Giriśarmā
Giriśarmā · giri-śarmā
The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells of Giriśarmā as a vipra and a disciple of Śaṅkara. In Bṛhaspati‘s account it tells that the brāhmaṇa Ajagara of Naimishāraṇya became Śeshanāga Rudra, the Rudra of the rāśi Karka. Having heard the words of the guru, Śeshanāga Rudra brought forth tejas from his mouth and placed it in the house of the brāhmaṇa Devadatta at Vindhyādri. That tejas became the vipra Giriśarmā. He defeated scholars, came to Kāśīpurī and became a disciple of Śaṅkara.
