Indrasena, charioteer of Yudhishṭhira
Indrasena was the personal charioteer of Yudhishṭhira Mahārāja in the Kurukshetra war. The Droṇa Parva of the Mahābhārata names him among the charioteers of the Pāṇḍava commanders. He is a different person from Indrasenā, the queen of Narishyanta of the Solar dynasty.
His role
A charioteer was more than a driver. He was a trained warrior who guided the horses and guarded the sides of the chariot, so that the archer could give all his attention to the fight. Indrasena did this work for Yudhishṭhira in the battles of the Droṇa Parva.
The Droṇa Parva names him together with Viśoka, the charioteer of Bhīma, and Dāruka, the charioteer of Kṛshṇa. These are the skilled charioteers who served the Pāṇḍava side.
