Śatānīka Upapāṇḍava
Śatānīka was one of the five Upapāṇḍavas, the sons born to Draupadī by each of the five Pāṇḍava brothers. He was the son of Nakula by Draupadī. He was one of the young warriors who fought through the war at Kurukṣetra, and the Droṇa Parva names him among them.
Śatānīka of Virāṭa’s family, who was killed by Bhīṣma on the tenth day, is a different person. All five Upapāṇḍavas were killed by Aśvatthāmā in the night attack told in the Sauptika Parva.
Who he was
Śatānīka was Draupadī’s son by Nakula, the fourth of the five Upapāṇḍavas. His brothers were Pratīvindhya (son of Yudhiṣṭhira), Sutasoma (son of Bhīmasena), Śrutakīrti (son of Arjuna) and Śrutasena (son of Sahadeva). Together they are called the Draupadeyāḥ, the sons of Draupadī. They took part in the war at Kurukṣetra as a group of young warriors trained by Arjuna in dhanurveda (the science of the bow). This is told in the Ādi Parva, Chapter 221.
In the Droṇa Parva
The Droṇa Parva names Śatānīka among the active Pāṇḍava warriors. He fought beside his father Nakula and his uncles through the long battles of Days 14 and 15.
Death
Aśvatthāmā killed all five Upapāṇḍavas in the night attack on the Pāṇḍava camp, told in the Sauptika Parva. This happened after the formal end of the eighteen-day war.
