Paurava (Kaurava Warrior)
Paurava was a king of the Paurava line. He joined the Kaurava side in the Kurukshetra war and committed his forces to their cause.
The Paurava line is one of the ancient kshatriya (warrior-ruler) lines. It comes down from Puru. It was one of the main royal lines of ancient Bhāratavarsha, and its members fought on both sides of the Kurukshetra war.
Place in the Kaurava army
Bhīshma names Paurava in the Rathātiratha-Saṃkhyāna. This is the counting of the warriors of the Kaurava army by rank. Bhīshma rates Paurava as a ratha (a chariot-warrior) among the Kaurava forces. The Mahābhārata gives this account in the Udyoga Parva.
Not Bharata
This Paurava is not Bharata. Bharata was the great emperor of the Paurava line, and Bhāratavarsha is named after him.
