314 - Mantras relating to the worship of Goddess Tvaritā

Agni said:

1-3. Om, hrim, hrūm, khe, che, kṣaḥ, strim, hrüm, kshe, hrim, phat obeisance to (Goddess) Tvarità. After doing the nyasa (location of the mantra) (Goddess) Tvarità possessing two or eight armsshould be worshipped. The energy of support and lotus (should be worshipped) in (a diagram of) a lion and the Goddess and the heart etc. (should also be worshipped). Gayatri (personification of the mantra)should be worshipped in a circle in the east (and other directions) (showing) the pranitā (mudra). (The Goddesses) Humkārå, Khechari, Chanda, Chedani and Kshepaņi (should also be worshipped). Hümkara, Kshemakäri and Phatkārishould be worshipped at the centre. Jaya and Vijayā (should be worshipped) at the entrance. The servant (should be worshipped) in front of them. 

4-10. (Oneshould do) oblations with sesamum with (the repetition of) the vyāhrutis in order to get all things. Obeisance to Anantai1 Oblations. Obeisance to Kalika! Svadha. Oblations to King Väsuki. Vaushaț to Sankhapala. Vashaț to Takshaka always. Obeisance to Mahapadma. Oblations to Karkotanāga phat. Obeisance to Padma. (The diagram of) nigrahachakra (the magic circle that causes obstruction)should be drawn on one's clothes, or a piece of cloth or on the body, or the birch-bark (leaf) or on a slab or on staffs. The name of the sādhya (the object to be accomplished, namely, the enemy) (should be written) in the middle chamber and (the syllables) om, hrim, kshūṁ on the chambers on the east and other (directions). The thorns and Kälarätrikā (should be written) in the north-east, west etc. and (lord) Yama (the lord of death) outside. (The following mystic coupletshould be written on the other chambers):

Kålināravamáli kålinámåkshamålini

mámodetat tadomomå rakshata sva sva bhaksha vå yamapāțațayamaya matamo tatamo tama 

vāmo bhūrivabhūmeyā tatariśvaśvarī țața.

(The syllable) var (should be located) outside the chamber of lord Yama and (the syllable) tam that has the potency to kill. 

11-12. (The above verseshould be written) with crow's quill at the cremation ground or the junction of four roads with a mixture of lamp soot, the resin of neem, marrow, blood, poison, charcoal, and pingaladhårā (?) and placed under a pitcher. Otherwise itshould be placed in an ant-hill. The spell (placed) under a bibhitaka tree is capable of destroying all the enemies. 

13-16. The anugrahachakra (a circular figure that confors grace)should be written on a white leaf or on the bhūrja (bark) withshellac or saffron or red sandal. The name (of the enemy)should be written in the central chamber on the earth and the wall. (The mantra) Om hamsa and the paffiša (a kind of spear)should be written in the region of the west. The charm of (Goddess) Lakshmi and Siva and othersshould be written in the north-west etc, in order. (The mystic verse is):

śriḥ sāmamomå så srih sånau yajñe jñeyå nauså 

måtha lila lali våmä yājñe jñeyā nausā māyā

Sighrá (should be worshipped) outside where the six "lilä' (is placed). The pitcher is also (placed) outside. Śighra is outside where jneyā is placed. (The syllable) raṁ is in the different direction. The pitcher would be outside. 

17. The wheel of lotus on a lotus (figure) would conquer death, convey (a person) to heaven and (give) firmness. It is the foremost appeasing rite among such rites. It confers fortune etc. 

18-22. (In the wheel known as) Rudra, thereshould be chambers of the number of Rudras (i.e. eleven). That (mantra)should be written therein beginning with the syllable om and ending with hrūm phat, the first letters of the vidyā being written at the end. This is known as the pratyangira which accomplishes all the desired objects, In (a circle having) eightyone chambers, the first letters (of the vidyā) (should be located) such that they would be from the beginning to the end and the name (of the enemyshould be added) ending with vashat. This is (known as) a different pratyangira (vidya) which would accomplish all tasks. The nigraha and anugraha (obstruction and grace) circlesshould be drawn to have sixty-four chambers, This is (known as) amrti vidya (reviving). (The syllables) krim saḥ hüṁ with the name (of the enemy) at the centre and the syllable phat at the beginning (written) on a leafshould be encircled by three syllables of hrim. This (charm) worn with (a mark of) a pitcher will kill all enemies and yield all things. If (this mantra) is repeated in the ear letter by letter or as a dandaka (a group of letters), it would destroy poison.
