These include the Nārasiṃha war (upon Hiraṇyakaśipu's defeat), the Vāmana war (upon Bali's subjugation), the Vārāha war (upon Hiraṇyākṣa's defeat), the Amṛta-manthana conflict, the Tārakāmaya war, and the wars of Ājīvaka, Tripura-vadha, Andhaka-vadha, Vṛtra-ghātana, Jita-Hālāhala, and Ghora-Kolāhala. In each of these cosmic conflicts, Bhagavān Viṣṇu intervened directly to protect the devas and restore dharma. The chapter notes Agni's special role as Viṣṇu's arrow (Brahmāstra-rūpa) in the destruction of Tripura.
