(The preceptor) who knows the procedure (of these rites)should then enter into the inner self of the disciple and then divide the effulgent consciousness (of the disciple) in the heart endowed with the thread located in the beatitude of non-action and resembling a spark of fire, with jyeshtha (mantra) as follows: - Om, ham, hūm, haḥ, hüm, phat and with (the mantra) Om, ham, oblations and then with the ankušamudra (posture with fingers denoting the goad).

You listen to the mandate of Lordshiva." After having bid farewell to Lord Brahma, (the preceptor)should slowly fill ir the soul of the disciple by his own soul with retention of breath and exhibiting samhāramudra (posture with fingers representing collection). Summary of chapter 84 of the Agni Purāṇa is as follows:
This chapter describes the first level of the nirvāṇa-dīkṣā: the purification of the nivṛtti-kalā — the lowest of the five cosmic levels, associated with the gross elements and the earthly plane. The 108 bhuvana-s (cosmic worlds) within this kalā, each presided over by a form of Rudra named after a sacred site — Kapāla (Kāpāleśvara), Aja (Ajagiri), Ahirbudhnya, and 105 others — are enumerated. The ritual process of the śiṣya's jīva being "extracted" from within the nivṛtti-kalā through the guru's sūtra, "purified" by burning in the fire of Śiva-consciousness, and then "re-implanted" in the purified kalā is described. The pāśa-chedana with the kalā-astra — the cutting of the bonds at each bhuvana level — is given as the specific act that severs the soul's attachment to each cosmic realm.
